Brushstrokes of the Artist ™ - Review
By Armando Rivera

"Wow," were the first words that came from the kids
upon seeing the Brushstrokes Kit. The response was immediate when
the children entered the workshop. They were amazed. They had the
opportunity to see the large image of the painting and handle the
smaller detailed images up close. The kit is very valuable in giving
instructors ideas about how to discuss the artwork and how we could
achieve the same effects in the classroom. For instance, the
children thought the detailed image of Van Gogh's painting looked
like cake frosting so they were more comfortable experimenting with
the medium. The children were excited trying to emulate the
different styles.
This kit can bring new ideas to instructors in how they can approach
the spirit of art in new and innovative ways. It can be used with a
wide range of ages. While younger children see color, texture and
themes, older students can use the kit to study the history of the
artist and their movements as well. This material helps students
appreciate and emulate the fine arts and creates new venues in the
process of learning and understanding art.
Every teacher should be fortunate enough to have this kit in their
classroom.
